5 Problems I Faced While Completing My Chemistry Assignment and How I Solved Them

Did you ever open your chemistry assignment, only to find yourself staring at it because you feel like you have a lot of problems to tackle while writing your assignment?

That’s exactly what I went through when I realised that even though I had understood the concepts, writing my assignment answers was not actually that easy. Once I began writing my assignment answers, I felt stressed and puzzled when I had to balance equations and perform calculations.

Here, I have mentioned 5 challenges I face while completing my chemistry assignment, along with the strategies I used to overcome them.

Let’s begin with our insightful conversation!

1. I Could Not Understand the Question Properly

To begin with, the first problem that I faced was understanding what some questions from my assignment prompt actually required me to do. As you know, chemistry questions usually contain multiple details, so I used to proceed to calculations without even identifying the main concept.

By taking advice from my professor, here’s what I changed:

  • I carefully read each question at least twice to notice every detail.
  • I made it a habit to highlight important chemistry terms and identify the instructions, so I knew what I needed to write in my assignment.

Honestly, my assignment process became much easier when I clearly understood the question.

2. I Always Got Confused While Balancing Chemical Equations

Don’t you feel that balancing chemical equations is one of the most difficult parts of assignments? For me, this was another major headache, especially because I often accidentally altered chemical formulae. To solve such problems, I consulted my supervisor, and he advised me to change my approach because I was trying to balance equations mentally.

After that,

  • I prepared a small table and included the number of atoms of each element on both sides.
  • Also, I changed only the coefficients in front of the formulae, not the subscripts inside them.
  • After balancing every equation, I counted every atom again to ensure I had matched both sides.

3. I Kept Making Calculation Errors

Even when you understand chemistry, calculations are where my answers got ruined. To me, the most annoying part was getting an answer that sounded reasonable but was still wrong due to calculation errors.

  • I used to begin writing every step rather than jumping directly to the final answer.
  • Also, I estimated the answer before I used my calculator.
  • For each calculation where I had to solve molar mass, stoichiometry, or concentration, I made sure to check units after each step.

4. Finding Reliable Information Was Difficult for Me

When you solve your chemistry questions, you already know that some questions require explanations rather than basic calculations. That’s where I used to get stuck every time.

I felt that some sources were too advanced, while others had only short answers without reasons.

To find more reliable information,

  • I began using my university textbooks, peer-reviewed journals, laboratory manuals, lecture notes, and other official publications as my main reference sources.
  • Also, I reached out to professional assignment help in Singapore for guidance on how I could explain the key findings in my own words.

5. I Left Too Much Work Until Very Few Days from the Deadline

Have you ever gone through the stress when you have only a few days left until your assignment deadline? I was worried about my deadline, as I didn’t start earlier.

I changed my time-management approach by dividing each assignment into smaller tasks.

  • I set smaller goals to complete my calculations, research explanations, and proofread.
  • Also, I dedicated some time to getting prepared to handle unexpected problems.

With this approach, I was able to work on my assignments without feeling overwhelmed or stressed. Moreover, I had enough time to carefully review my work and be confident that I left no mistakes.

The Bottom Line

To me, completing my chemistry assignments felt like a hurdle that sometimes made me think that I was bad at chemistry. I used to have issues with understanding questions, avoiding calculation errors, and managing my assignment work before deadlines.

But I gradually learned to fix every problem and reached out for help when needed. As I did, you should not let a confusing assignment question discourage you. With the solutions I provided, I hope you can tackle all problems in your assignments.

Good luck with solving the problems in your chemistry assignment and scoring a better grade!
